Mariko Mori Residence
Mariko Mori is a Japanese artist that works mostly with sculpture and video. She touches topics about life/death, spirituality and nature.
This residence is located in the top three floors of what used to be the Chicago Post Office building that is now abandoned. It became very important for this project to maintain the skeleton of the building almost untouched, because of the topics that the artist talks about.
The intervention of the building was inspired by many of her sculptural works, the ethereal feeling she achieves to portray was translated into the building design with a roof feature as well as a façade feature.
